It’s always nice to be able to relax with Kes on his day off.  My dad suggested Kes and I have a picnic since it was over 70F today.  I thought it was a great idea, and suggested it to Kes, who pointed out that since the snow was still melting, the ground is all wet.  Whoops.  Instead, we had a picnic in my living room while watching Dr. Who.

Stuck on the Weather

22 03 2010

I feel like I’ve been talking about the weather a lot, but it’s been occupying my thoughts quite a bit.  Here are some pictures from yesterday.  I decided I wanted cake, so I decided to fill up with gas and drive across the street to the grocery store (yes, I know that driving across the street is kind of terrible, but it’s 0.6 miles and pretty dangerous crossing the road in the ice/snow).  I got stuck on my way out of the gas station, but four guys were kind enough to push my car to a place where I could move.

I’ve had Skies of Arcadia from Gamefly since January, but hadn’t played it at all.  Last night, I tried it out for a couple hours.  So far, I’m really enjoying it.  Vyse in Valkyria Chronicles is what sparked my interest in Skies of Arcadia in the first place, and I haven’t been disappointed yet.  There isn’t a whole lot that sets it apart from other JRPGs for me, but it’s a new story (for me), and I’ve been in the mood for a JRPG-style game.

Staying indoors

20 03 2010

It turns out it is snowing…  It rained all night and morning, and recently began sleeting and snowing.  With all the wet, my ceiling is leaking again, even after the roof was replaced.  Now it’s in my living room instead of just my kitchen, though.

Yuck, what a gross weekend outside.  Fortunately, I have Hikaru no Go and Dr. Who to watch.  (I’m watching the first season of Dr. Who that has David Tennant as the Doctor.)

I read a bit more Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell.  I’m at the beginning of Book 2 now.  It finally feels like the book itself is beginning.  I’m not sure why it feels like such a slow read.

It’s 70F outside and a we’re under a winter storm watch because it’s supposed to snow this weekend.  I’m a little confused.  Hopefully it doesn’t snow.  The roads and drivers get scarier around here when there’s snow.

This week felt like it went by really quickly.  Surely one hour didn’t make that much difference in my perception of week length.  Hopefully the weekend will linger a bit, and I can enjoy some relaxation.

Apparently Hikaru no Go is on Hulu.  Kes recommended it to me as an anime I might like.  It makes me want to learn to play/play Go.  I had the opportunity to learn at Governor’s School, but I guess it didn’t really interest me at the time.  I learned how to knit, and to stitch pages together to make a book instead (apparently; I only actually remember how to do the knitting bit, not the making a book).

p.s. I was tempted to name this entry “Hikaru no Snow” even though that wouldn’t make any sense.
